Cant afford an Attorney – You can choose to go Pro-se or have limited representation What does that mean ?

Cant afford an Attorney – You can choose to go Pro-se or have limited representation What does that mean ?

Pro-se means one who represents oneself in a court proceeding without the assistance of a lawyer. The Judges and Courts are becoming more accustomed to this process. Individual State web sites have all the tools you need to get started. From court rules to follow to downloading the necessary forms. You know your case better than anyone, you can use all the resources provided in this web site to help you. It might take more time but it can be done.

The first thing you will want to do is to learn as much as possible about the law and procedures related to your problem. You will want to get information about the law and courts in your state. Click Here  to find help & information in your state.

Click Here  for one the best non profit website I have found.   Awesome non-profit site, no ads just much appreciated information, State specific for knowing the laws in your state, preparing for court, where to find help, legal statutes, down loadable legal forms for every state. It specifies legal information for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault but this site is for any person facing the courts in all different circumstances, child custody, visitation, collecting child support, modifications to existing child support. THIS IS A MUST VISIT if not for your self perhaps someone you know could use this valuable information

Published legal books can also can be a very good source. Look for them in a law library or order here  in one or more of the areas provided on this web site.

Limited Representation: Consider hiring a lawyer to work on only parts of your case, some lawyers “unbundle” their services and provide help with just a portion of your case. Some judges and lawyers don’t like this, but for those who cannot afford or just want to represent themselves it is available. Google or ask a law librarian if they could refer one to you.

Hire a  Paralegals is  an option too, they have there own services they offer as well. They have to work under an attorney, but have started their own businesses, and have web sites up and available for these services offered. Attorneys who can’t afford a full time paralegal sub out there work to paralegals. Go to Craigs list under services wanted, then legal services.

Any of these books will give you Knowledge to Represent yourself in court.
